Don't Take Chicken Sh*t for Eggs (Kaka Poul Pou Ze)

That's the Haitian proverb that came to mind when I saw a fellow Haitian praising Trump's so-called "Big Beautiful Act." This bill is being sold as a win for working people, but it's a masterclass in deception.

While billionaires permanently get $66,000 tax cuts and corporations lock in 21% tax rates forever, our community gets crumbs disguised as benefits. We get temporary deductions that expire in 2028, Child credits that exclude mixed-status families,  $1,000 "Trump accounts" funded with our own tax dollars but branded like his personal charity.

Such audacity!

For my community, over half of Haitian households in the U.S. rely on at least one public benefit. We are the nurses, cashiers, and teacher aides. We are the essential workers who held this country together during the pandemic. Yet this law slashes Medicaid for 10.9 million people, guts SNAP by $230 billion, and taxes the money we send home to families struggling to eat.

While my 401 (k) may benefit from a stronger stock market, it comes at the cost of my daughter's future and my community's survival.

I cannot stay silent so read my breakdown to understand what this law really means: https://open.substack.com/pub/johnnycelestin/p/the-so-called-big-beautiful-act-kaka?r=5v0a1t&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true
